NGVLA SAC EC Telecon 24/04/18 Participants: Alberto Bolatto, Andrea Isella, Brenda Matthews, Eric Murphy, James Di Francesco, Dominik Reichers, Danny Dale 1. Portland meeting update - 96 registrants so far, more to come. Need to press SOC members, etc. to register - JAO has asked if they should be present, not much support from the EC - Has the meeting been overlooked? Was announced on too short a timescale? Our effort to advertise should have been better? An IAU GA year? People want to go to meetings about their specific subject? - EC members should poke people as much as possible. - SOC chairs need to step into contributed talks soon to see what the sessions will look like - From CoL perspective, small sessions aren't bad as it could stimulate more open discussion. - SOC meeting is planned this Thursday at 9 am, will post the schedule on the web soon thereafter - Schedules will be different for different sessions, will try to maximize the number of contributed talks. - Need to figure out how to get "deliverables" from the community, i.e., DS2020 white papers. 2. Science Book referee reviews - everyone happy with review process? Instructions for review just circulated by e-mail. - different quality of chapters will initiate a variety of reviews. - deadline is two weeks for the primary and one week for the secondary review - for this round we are keeping the reviews within the SAC, maybe tap outside expertise in the summer - cut and paste comments onto the shared document, secondary reviewer is to check that the primary review is OK 3. AOB - we will monitor how things are going at our next telecon, begin to assemble a program for our SAC F2F meeting
