Dec 2-4, members of the spectral line catalogs and the VO met in Charlottesville to discuss the compliance of the existing catalogs...specifically at JPL and KOLN. To first order, the group assembled agreed on the basic database schema following very closely what is already done in splatalogue. To make the future databases as useful as possible, the members agreed to expand on the existing database structure to more closely follow the simple spectral line data model (SSLDM) protocol and also to work with the VO community on expanding both the simple line access protocol (SLAP) and the data model protocol. This will take place over the next year(s) as both catalogs update to become VO compliant. Also, the VO team is working on setting up the SLAP service at NRAO for easy access via the VO and other applications. This service will then be distributed among the other catalogs as well. In the end, software applications (including ALMA apps) should eventually use the VO protocol to access these services. Until then, splatalogue will continue to update its database as new data become available. Dec 7-11: At the SD CASA workshop, Remijan agreed to provide a subset of the splat database to CASA and the OT. This subset will include all the detected astronomical transitions as well as all the recommended rest frequencies of all known astronomical molecules. The user can then "toggle" between the two lists to identify lines in their data. The format of the list has yet to be determined but it should be similar for both the OT and CASA. For example, the format should easily be translated into a CASA table. Finally, a subset of not only the line lists but also the data contained in the line lists, ie, freq, QNs, E_up, etc...is also to be determined. This action item is to be completed in time for the CASA release March 1. Richard can comment more on this as he was there during the spectral line discussions.
