Source Conflicts

To prepare for the SRP and TAC meetings source conflicts are calculated and provided to the SRP/TAC during the review and time allocation process. For the VLA/VLBA this is done before the SRP meetings and given to the appropriate SRP chairs. For the GBT this is done before the TAC meeting and listed in the GBT bookelet. Here are how the conflicts are determined:

  • VLA/VLBA: A cone search on (1) active proposals with other active proposals; and (2) active proposals with proposals not yet observed. The search is performed only within a given SRP (i.e., related science).
  • GBT: A cone search (position and frequency) on active proposals and proposals within the proprietary period, including those not yet observed. The search is performed for all SRPs collectively.
