TAC f2f Meeting. DanaBalser reported that the TAC info has been released with no issues thus far. MarkClaussen has tested the remote video connection with one TAC member but will not be able to test the other until before the TAC meeting.
Adding Readers to a given SRP. Some discussion points below.
Since the chair has to assign the reviews, all reviewers have to wait until the all SRP members have declared their conflicts before anyone can start reviewing proposals.
Lot of work for chairs and we have already added primary/secondary assignments which was not initially part of the system.
Instead of adding readers maybe sort primary/secondary.
We assign primary/secondary based on feedback from SRP members. There was some concern that proposals could be selected to game the system. Too someone would have to collate data and make assignments. Alternatively we could add a checkbox on the conflicts page and the reviewer could indicated proposals they were not qualified to review. Once done automatically select primary/secondary randomly.
Restructuring SRPs. BarryClark suggested the following changes below. The consensus was that these changes were reasonable and may better balance the SRP loads now but how long would that last? The AGN count has varied quite a bit (factor of 2) and depends on VLA configuration. EGS also depends on VLA configuration but not as much as before (HI in B-config). Furthermore we would like to lighten the load in general but this could be part of the solution. One side effect is that changing the SRPs causes problems in consistency when generating metrics.
Split ETP into (i) pulsars, XRBs, and other Galactic; and (ii) SNe, GRBs, FRBs, TDEs, and misc.
Split AGN into (i) AGN properties and inner jets; and (ii) Lobes, feedback, etc.
Combine NGA and EGS.
Move SSP proposals to other panels. Stellar non-thermal --> ETP; Novae --> ISM; YSO's --> SFM. Not clear what to do with planets.
Out of the Box. BarryClark suggested we could allow the PI to select from a series of keywords that software would take as input and create SRPs. Interesting idea but it may be some work to implement.
