  • 19B
    • CfP Issues
      • EVN Calculator. MarkClaussen summarized two issues: (1) EVN had changed the link to their calculator. We had two different links in the PST, one which was properly redirected and another that was not. RickLively updated these links. (2) The EVN calculator does not handle 4 Gbs. RickLively added text to the PST popup on how to deal with the 4 Gbs mode sensitivity calculation. MarkClaussen will request to the EVN folks to update their calculator. RickLively suggested that we might want to routinely check external links in the PST.
      • HSA Resources. MarkClaussen reported that one user had problems with setting up HSA resources. The problem occurs depending on the sequence of operations that are used in the PST, and therefore MarkClaussen was able to fix the proposal. RickLively updated the software on webtest, but we have not released it to production given the complexity of the resource software (many exceptions). More detailed testing is required and we lack the time so close to the deadline.
      • Non-standard Characters. Several issues: (1) HeidiMedlin reported an apostrophe within a PST parameter was not interpreted correctly by the OPT. This is a standard character so there appears to be no issues in the PST. HeidiMedlin has submitted a ticket to fix the OPT. GarethHunt noted that sometimes special characters are rendered as apostrophes. (2) MarkClaussen has fixed several proposals with non-standard characters in the abstract or technical justification. This occurs every semester for a few proposals. (3) HeidiMedlin also noted similar problems in the OPT (maybe via the PBT) that she just edits. We may want to think about how to better deal with such problems in the new version of the TTA software.
      • Stuck Emails. GarethHunt summarized a recent problem where emails were hanging on knuth. In 2014 a domain in Xinjiang, China was attacking our machines and so we put up a firewall. A local observatory started to use this domain which resulted in their messages hanging on kunth. PatMurphy has since fixed this problem. RickLively noted that one of these emails may have been related to a Sponsored proposal where the account has been disabled. In principle this should not be allowed; DanaBalser will check.
      • LST Calculator. There was one helpdesk ticket about concerns that the LST calculator was incorrect or possibly did not do what was expected. BarryClark noted that we recently checked this calculation carefully and we think it works correctly. One issue is that the implementation is a bit confusing. You have to save the Session first, then edit and click the LST calculate button. Moreover, the user can change the source list or the elevation limit with no updates to the LST range; that is, the user has to always go back and click the LST calculate button. ToneyMinter also noted that if you copy a proposal it will use this LST range and not default to 0-24 hr. DanaBalser will send this example to RickLively.
    • PST Review Items. RickLively reported that he has released the filter ticket to webtest which has been tested. He still needs to fix the filter on the Reviews Setup page. He plans to work on the tickets that test for issues when normalizing the score (e.g., cases where the flags are not set properly).
  • Pre-Rejected Proposals. AnandCrossely reported on one 19A proposal that was submitted and then rejected by the observatory. It did not go through the review process and is not counted in his metrics. He will send RickLively the proposal ID so he can check if the proposal is labeled as submitted (and not withdrawn) and what he has modified in the database.
  • Helpdesk. DanaBalser noted that occasionally helpdesk tickets are moved to a different department and when this occurs they seem to disappear unless you are in the department. AnandCrossley suggested that we create a new helpdesk ticket in these situations.
  • Shutdown Issues. LewisBall and DanaBalser will discuss how best to proceed vis-a-vis the review process pending government funding.
