  • TAC Meeting Postmortem. DanaBalser summarized the postmortem discussion. Based on one issue we briefly discussed some of the procedures with dual-anonymous review. (1) Plagiarism. Since the authors are unknown they could more easily plagiarize. RobertMinchin noted that with SOFIA you were not allowed to mention your own work which would limit the ability to plagiarize. (2) The Team. Some feel it is important to evaluate the team. Our current thinking is that while the science review panels would be dual-anonymous, the TAC would see the author list. RobertMinchin and AmyMioduszewski noted their experience with other observatories where the panel has a second stage where they can evaluate the team after the science evaluation has been finalized. This can either be a binary decision (HST, Swift) or comments to the TAC (SOFIA). (3) Technical Review. How to evaluate the technical expertise. Some observatories have a team document providing their expertise. This is particulary important for Large proposals.
  • Directors' Review. The Directors' Review is 1 November 2022 at 10:00-13:00 EDT. DanaBalser has received all materials from the schedulers and from metrics. He plans to send the report to the Directors' later today or tomorrow.

  • eNews Review Volunteer. AllieCosta is working with JessicaBurns to transfer the review volunteer form to Plone. She will work with MarkClaussen to put this in the next newsletter.
  • Joint ALMA-VLA Text. For joint VLA-ALMA proposals we have to provide ALMA with information for their CfPs. In, particular what information does the PI need to include vis-a-vis the VLA so that we can perform a proper technical review. AmyMioduszewski and EmmanuelMomjian will produce the necessary VLA technical information in the next two weeks.
  • SRP/TAC Recruitment. AllieCosta noted that we have 3 TAC and 12 SRP member vacancies to fill. Five SPRs are done: HLA, LLA, EGS, and SSP. MarkClaussen is organizing a meeting for the new recruiters in the next week.
