TAC Meeting. DanaBalser summarized the status of the TAC meeting. All materials have been uploaded to the secure wiki with the exception of some presentations. There are a few scheduling issues where TAC members will not be present. AmyMioduszewski noted that we should get permission to come into the office if necessary. AmyMioduszewski, DanaBalser, and ToneyMinter will email the appropriate people to get permission for the relevant people at Socorro, Charlottesville, and Green Bank, respectively.
Metrics Corrections for the PST. RickLively reported that the PST has been updated. There were about 40 proposals where the public bit had to be turned on.
Commensal Observing. TrishHenning provided some background information about a new policy for commensal observing. There are two distinct types: commensal projects that are linked to specific instruments (e.g., VLITE), and commensal observing using standard instruments for two proposals that have gone through the peer review system. The goal is to have a landing page that other pages refer to in our documentation. ClaireChandler summarized some of the details. The catalyst for the new policy was the SETI backend which has the flexibility to reproduce some of the WIDAR modes. The policy states that the NRAO will turn off the commensal backend when it could potentially reproduce an open-sky approved project. They are currently working on an operating plan. NRAO staff will be responsible for turning off the commensal instrument. The commensal team is responsible for providing the observatory with details about the instrument and when new modes are available. ToneyMinter noted that the GBO has Breakthrough Listen and Greenburst (FRB search); the PIs are allowed to request that these backends are turned off. TrishHenning will share the new comensal policy to the TTA group.
External Joint Proposal Contacts. MarkClaussen summarized some issues with one observatory. We do not get proposals to perform technical reviews, and we do not get a list of proposals that have been approved for time by the external TAC. DanaBalser will send TrishHenning all of the current MoUs and she will decide on how to proceed.
TTA Meeting. DanaBalser reported that there will be no meeting next week. The next TTA meeting will be 29 April 2021.
