EVLA/VLBA/GBT Resources

NRAO Interactive Services Modification Request 2 T1 2010

1. Introduction

Any changes to the telescope specific resources

2. Background

3. Requirements

  • EVLA
    • We will either add the 74 MHz receiver for a special release (after June 1 deadline) or for the Oct 1 release.
  • VLBA
  • GBT
    • GUPPI backend:
      • Add an option to choose between "Coherent Dedispersion" and "Incoherent Dedispersion".
    • Add K-band focal plane array (KFPA) as a new receiver. Call it "KFPA (shared risk)" in the menu.
      • When selected only the Spectrometer backend should be available.
      • Keep the following: Rest Frequencies, Sampling Level, and Desired Frequency Resolution
      • Add the table below. Here are the constraints:
        • The number of frequencies should match the number of spectral windows, except for when the number of beams is 7 whereby the user can input either the number of spectral windows or the number of spectral windows plus 1.
        • The widest frequency separation is 1800 MHz.
        • The sampling level works the same way as usual: if the bandwidth is either 200 MHz or 800 MHz then only 3-level is available, but if the bandwidth is either 12.5 MHz or 50 MHz then the user can choose either 3-level or 9-level.

No. Beams No. Spectral Windows No. PolSorted ascending Bandwidth (MHz)
4 2 1 200
4 2 1 800
7 1 1 200
7 1 1 800
4 2 2 12.5
4 2 2 50
4 1 2 12.5
4 1 2 50
4 1 2 200
4 1 2 800
7 1 2 12.5
7 1 2 50

4. Design

Technical lead should provide a brief description of how this will be implemented in the code.

5. Deployment Checklist

Documentation? Systems/hardware/networking things needed for deployment?

6. Test Plan

6.1 Internal Testing

6.2 Sponsor Testing

6.3 Integration/Regression Tests
