Student Support

NRAO Interactive Services Modification Request 2C408, October 2008

1. Introduction

NRAO has added the VLBA/HSA to the student support program.

2. Background

Information about the student support program is located at: NRAOStudentSupportProgram. Currently the student support program is available for the GBT and any large proposal. Here we want to add the VLBA/HSA proposals. Therefore, the only case where student support will not be available is for regular VLA proposals. The details for the VLBA/HSA are the same as for the GBT.

Also, we want to relax the constraint that NRAO staff cannot be the adviser for a student support program. Technically, the rule requires that NRAO staff must be an adjunct professor of the school at which the student is attending. Since this is difficult information to keep track of we will do this manually for now.

3. Requirements

  • 1 Add student support for VLBA/HSA proposals.
  • 2 Remove constraint that prevents NRAO staff from being an adviser.

4. Design

Technical lead should provide a brief description of how this will be implemented in the code.

5. Deployment Checklist

Documentation? Systems/hardware/networking things needed for deployment?

6. Test Plan

6.1 Internal Testing

6.2 Sponsor Testing

6.3 Integration/Regression Tests
