Improving Sources, Resources and Sessions

NRAO Interactive Services Modification Request 10C108, November 2007

1. Introduction

For this activity, we would like the lead developer to propose a mechanism for the user to be able to more easily describe their Sessions, Resources and Sources in a proposal. We hope that two prototypes can be built: one from Eric and one from Ashish. We'd like to take this back to the scientists to help us figure out how to improve the presentation of Sessions in the Proposal Submission Tool.

2. Background

The concept of Sessions in the Proposal Submission Tool (see PstQuickReference) is typically very confusing to observers, even though it is required that they describe their planned observing in terms of Sessions. Because a Session consists of Sources observed by Resources under given constraints, the three concepts are closely tied together.

3. Requirements

4. Design

5. Deployment Checklist

6. Test Plan

6.1 Internal Testing

6.2 Sponsor Testing

6.3 Integration/Regression Tests
