VLA/VLBA/GBT Resource Changes

NRAO Interactive Services Modification Request 7C109, February 2009

1. Introduction

Account for any changes in telescope resources for the next proposal cycle.

2. Background

3. Requirements

  • New Resources
    • VLA/EVLA
      1. For adding Ka band to the PST for the VLA:
In the pull-down menu in Resources under Receiver add the line: Ka Band 0.9 cm 26000 - 40000 MHz
This should go between the K band and Q band lines in the pull-down menu.
The default Continuum Center Frequencies should be 33535.1, 33585.1 MHz and the default bandwidth should be 50 MHz.
      2. The frequency range for C-band to be updated from 4.2-7.7 GHz to 4.0-8.0 GHz.
    • VLBA/HSA
    • GBT
      1. GUPPI - add the following to this backend (Note: minor changes may be added later since this backend is under development).
        • Bandwidths (100, 200, 400, and 800 MHz)
        • Observing mode (timing mode or search mode)
  • Improve PST for GBT Technical Reviews
    1. For GBT resources remove the time resolution parameter for spectral line modes only ("GBT Spectrometer - spectral line mode" and "Spectral Processor - spectral line mode").
    2. The folks in GB will create a short document that contains information about the technical justification, including some examples. Add a link in the GBT Scientific Justification page to this reference.

  • Remove the html link to the GBT proposer's Guide since this will no longer be updated. This is at Dashboard-->Documentation under GBT. The pdf should be fine.

4. Design

Technical lead should provide a brief description of how this will be implemented in the code.

5. Deployment Checklist

Documentation? Systems/hardware/networking things needed for deployment?

6. Test Plan

6.1 Internal Testing

6.2 Sponsor Testing

6.3 Integration/Regression Tests
