Trickier image DD options
The most useful of these is probably the visual histogram-assisted scaling of colors to data values. I like it too, but it is complex and will have to be reimplemented, probably in pure Qt, without the benefit of plotting functions. So it will have to wait a while, I believe.
Other tricky image DD options from the old viewer include the ability to apply an (additional, 'on-the-fly') mask and/or to restrict the image to a (cut-and-pasted) region. I believe these saw little use so far in practice. I would give these low priority unless/until the effort required is justified by scientific demand.
