CASA Download Directory Structure

The CASA download site is currently found at svn.cv.nrao.edu. The directory layout recently changed in preparation for CASA's migration to git and separation of CASA downloads from NRAO's subversion server. The layout of the download site is described below.

casa/distro/patches

Platform independent patches and script updates. These can be applied or installed in either linux or osx distributions.

casa/distro/patches/update-rsync-url

Starting sometime before the release of CASA 4.4 the method for updating the geodetic data which is distribution with each CASA distribution was standardized across our linux and osx distributions. In the past on linux, it was possible to update the data using subversion. With the release of CASA 4.5 this is no longer an update option.

For both OSX and linux, the geodetic data is updated by running:

    ! update-data

from the CASA command line prompt or by using casa-config, which is distributed with CASA:

    casa-config --exec update-data

However, some versions of CASA have references to a server which no longer serves CASA data. The patch script in this directory can be used to update the server reference. It is safe to use this script for CASA distributions for both OSX and linux. You can update the reference by running:

    update-data.patch <PATH-TO-CASA-DISTRIBUTION>

where is the path to the top level of the unpacked CASA distribution which you would like to fix.
