LBO: Waler, Jim, Ephraim
USNO: Nicole, Alan, Chris, Philip, Andy, Bruce

Agenda:
  • VLBA Observations
    • February Daily Observation Report
      • The month's observations were good with the exception of n8054, which had no usable date for the primary and backup observation, due to bad weather at Mauna Kea. This performance was predicted by the observation of high Tsys values as reported by the operator.
      • Manual P-Cal Amplitude Update: This has been resolved since the replacement of the PT P-Cal Generator.
    • February Post-Monthly Report Review:
      • There was no discussion as USNO has not had time to review the submission. Ephraim will work with Jon offline to confirm that the report is comprehensive and satisfactory.
  • Open issues
    • SC Update & Fiber
      • Operational Update: The antenna has undergone an intensive inspection and critical repair visit by 3 LBO specialists. This has resulted in many repairs being done that allow the SC antenna to be returned to the array for pointing runs. This in turn will allow for additional evaluation of the antenna and identification of necessary work over the coming weeks and month.
      • The site networking is largely stable and Walter briefed the group on the progress of a potential fiber network link and upgrade. If completed, this will result in the capability to provide direct transmission of observations to USNO, enabling a SC-MK baseline. This baseline would likely become the primary baseline.
    • HN/OV
      • Operational Update: USNO is nearing completion of the 6-month characterization of this baseline. Fortnightly observations will be used to maintain this characterization.
      • USNO would like to do additional observations in C-band, with 2 different frequency sets in mind, in order to determine the performance of each approach.
      • LBO agreed that this would be worthwhile. The approach to performing this will be worked out with Operations, but the plan is to use a revised script to develop the key files for the observations. USNO will give the requested frequency requirements to Walter, who will in turn modify the script for operational use.
      • Goal is to perform the observation while the MK-PT observations are being run.
    • difx2mark4 bug
      • There's a bug in the current version that inserts a curly bracket causing HOPS problem. If an upcoming patch is released that fixes this, LBO will try to incorporate it. Something to follow.
  • Next meeting on April 12th
