USNO VLBA Support Meeting

• Correlator:
  • Still in transition stage, hardware correlator is out.
  • Waiting on power audit of room before starting Phase 2. Action USNO: Dave to get audit done
  • Dan: As far as operations go, just keeping up with what is needed due to bandwidth and network restrictions
    • LUSTRE is largely sitting unused
  • James: Initial work of getting Mark5's booting done, but what are next steps for functional issues?
    • Dan: We had it booting with proper environment and started with Mark5 daemon.
    • Question on whether commands were being communicated properly with Mark5 - work with Walter, John.
    • As part of testing, USNO rebooted and it rebooted into an old state where environment wasn't loading correctly.
    • James: Let's set up a separate meeting to work through punchlist of items (John is available, Walter ok for Tuesday next week).
    • Walter: It would be useful to do this on 2 units simultaneously. Dave: Agreed.
    • James: Action USNO: Send MAC, Host addresses to James.
  • Validation DiFX 2.4
    • This version is being readied for public announcement
    • Walter: hoping to get any blessing from USNO to proceed.
    • Goal is to release this soon - Dan: would like to run through another 24hr experiment and a set of intensives.

  • Data Quality Improvement Update
    • Phase cals loading now due to a new HOPS build. Now getting phase cals and fringes.
    • Gave refringed intensives data to Chris for analysis recently, update in the future on quality through solution.
    • Chris: Will want to run cable cal analysis again once experimental databases are analyzed. Update in future.
• Daily Observation Report for December
  • Wanted to bring up end of November and early December lack of fringes:
    • Filelist bug not the problem (see November)
  • Haven't been able to find X-band fringes on Jan 08 MK-PT observations. S-band appears normal but will continue to investigate
  • Overall a good month, pretty quiet.
• Recorrelation of R4633
  • The packs are still in Socorro
  • Dave: USNO will get back to NRAO on vex file updates.
• 4 station observations
  • Been doing every other week, one from 4 weeks ago is in USNO. Analysis expected in 2 weeks on 4344, 4328 may have problems as described below.
  • F4344 was run on wrong DiFX version (not 5454) but was recorrelated on that. Dan had not been able to export a prior observation (F4328?).
• Open issues
  • MK Visit in Early 2015 by USNO? Dave is look at Thursday afternoon, the 22nd around 1pm. ACTION NRAO: Ephraim to coordinate a time.
