NRAO Public Wiki Account Policy
The
NRAO Public Wiki was created to serve the following needs:
- Collaboration between NRAO Staff, Visitors, and our colleagues in the broader Astronomical Community;
- Sharing of files between these groups;
- Where appropriate, restricted access forums (webs and/or topics) between registered wiki users
As with any NRAO account, the public wiki accounts are a privilege and are governed by various NRAO
policies. This topic outlines how we manage your public wiki account.
Account Creation
Anyone can
create an account on this wiki. Requirements and the procedure are stated in the
UserRegistration topic. However, all accounts are by default
read-only and cannot be used to edit, create, or delete content.
After registration (and the ensuing confirmation step), anyone who needs write or edit privileges should contact the NRAO webmaster, stating the nature of their collaboration with NRAO and with whom in the Observatory they are collaborating. Normally these requests are dealt with promptly, within two business days (but frequently much faster).
Account Deletion
Periodically, NRAO staff will review the list of public wiki accounts (typically annually). During this review, a check will be made on activity -- basically, whether your account actually logged in or not during the previous 30 days. Accounts of active NRAO staff will be exempted from this review.
For all others, any account that did not log in during that time is regarded as inactive. All inactive accounts will be sent an e-mail shortly after this review, requesting that they log in to the public wiki within the next 30 days to verify their interest in continued collaboration with NRAO. Those that fail to do so will have their accounts removed.
Accounts that are inactive for more than 9 months will be disabled with no notice.
Any account and/or content found to be violating NRAO's policies or relevant state, federal, national, international, or local laws will be summarily and immediately removed.
