NenuFAR ES10 meeting -- RRL project
November 14, 2022
Attendees: Antoine, Lucie, Sergey, Philippe, Jonathan, Kim, Pedro
Meeting notes
- Observation request should be fully observed. The targets include: Cygnus A, Taurus A, Cygnus Loop and IC443.
- Work resumed on the data reduction pipeline.
- Phillippe & Lucie will start with Cassiopeia A.
- At some point there will be a cross check with Sergey's work.
- After, the pipeline can be used to look at other sources.
- Antoine's intern, Thomas Valour, will start at the end of the month.
- Kim asks about the Bayesian modeling of the line properties.
- Jonathan and Lucie had done some Bayesian fitting in the past, but not based on gas properties.
- Kim wants to focus on fitting for the line properties based on the gas properties.
- Some things that we should explore are:
- Does it help to fit simultaneously for line intensity and width?
- Does it help to fit for individual transtitions or stacks?
- Sergey shows some results on Cygnus A.
- So far only the data below 50 MHz has been prosessed.
- This is with a channel width of 25 Hz.
- The stack of all the processed data has an rms of ~2.5e-5 in optical depth units. This can be improved upon by averaging along the spectral axis.
- Things to look for: higher order carbon transtitions, sulphur recombination lines, new constraints on HRRL optical depth and extragalactic RRLs.
- Looking for higher order transitions will require using Sergey's 2007 method for separating transitions.
- Antoine shares the observing schedule.
- He will work setting up the observations.
- There are 30 hours in December during the night.
- More observing blocks up to May.
- Antoine et al. will decide if it is necessary to meet next Monday (November 21st) by this Friday.
