GDIGS-Low meeting

May 4, 2023

Attendees: Pedro, Loren, Anish, Pooja, Riley

Data processing

  • Preshanth Jagannathan shared that for continuum observations the final image is convolved with the beam at the weighted average of the band.
  • For this to work we would need to deconvolve the GDIGS-Low cubes and make an assumption about the underlying structures (e.g., multi-scale clean versus point source clean).
    • This would take a long time to investigate.
  • What is the sidelobe level for the GBT prime focus RXs?
    • Example: For a 100 mK line and sidelobes at the 15 dB level, the contribution is ~3 mK.
  • For now; create a cube for each line at its own resolution, and a stacked cube with the beam of the lowest frequency line.

Cygnus X

  • Riley uploaded the results from the Gaussian decomposition to the AstroCloud. They are in products/agd (this link is read only).
  • Riley will also upload the code he used so we can use it as a template.
  • Riley is working on the AGD for the regridded cubes.

Other

  • Loren put in a proposal to have his student Dylan work in Green Bank for a year (School year 2023-2024).
  • GDIGS-Low is actively being observed.
  • Pooja has been learning how to use Gausspy+ to apply the AGD to other fields. Knowledge transfer between Riley & Pooja.
    • There is an error when trying to run Gausspy+ on the 800 MHz data. Pooja will share the error so we can try to fix it.
  • Upload the FAST RRL cube to the cloud. It can be found here: https://astrocloud.nrao.edu/s/XSXRxLpT9kXobob
