This is a tapas bar, with many selections around $8. Fancy martinis though these aren't

packed.

Carmello's Ristorante Italiano
400 Emmet St S,
Charlottesville, VA 22903-2425
(434) 977-5200
Across from the John Paul Jones Center, Carmello's has been around for years. This isn't fast food but the service
is good. The atmosphere is candlelit and cozy. Good northern Italian food competently made, you won't find
adventurous cuisine here. The bread is excellent and abundant. Our group of 20 had a fixed price dinner, a choice of
soup or salad for a starter, Vegetable Manicotti, Chicken Sorrentina, Veal Piccata or Salmon Angelo with New York cheesecake or Gelato for dessert. Chianti and Pinot Grigio accompanied the meal. I had the chicken, two sauteed chicken breasts topped with ham, tomato, mozzarella and demi-glace. It was very good, an abundance of food nicely blended in flavors. There was a side of spaghetti. The soup and cheesecake were very good.
