Table of Contents:

Energy Levels

2P(1/2), J=1/2, F=1-1, N=1

  • Energy above ground =~ 0 cm^(-1)
  • Frequency =~ 3300 MHz
  • Thought to be inverted by IR excitation (see references below)
  • Not accessible at GBT (falls between S- and C-band)
  • Is accessible at VLA (S-band)

2P(1/2), J=3/2, F=2-2, N=1

  • Energy above ground =~ 17.9 cm^(-1)
  • Frequency =~ 700 MHz
  • LTE excitation (i.e. not inverted by IR; see Ziurys & Turner 1985)
  • Accessible at GBT (at prime focus) but not VLA

2P(1/2), J=5/2, F=3-3, N=2

  • Energy above ground =~ 73.15 cm^(-1)
  • Frequency =~ 4800 MHz

2P(1/2), J=3/2, F=2-2, N=2

  • Energy above ground =~ 67 cm^(-1)
  • Frequency =~ 7300 MHz
