Summary of LO power requirements

Beginning with Band 4 there is also a cold multiplier after the WCA, whose output power is specified in the ICD between the receiver cartridge and the First LO.

Band 1:

WCA: the output power of either channel shall be a minimum of 13 dBm. (20mW)

Band 2:

WCA:

Band 3:

WCA: the output power of either channel of the Band 3 first local oscillator shall be adjustable from –4 to +2 dBm in steps of 0.5 dB or less.

Band 4:

WCA: The output power of either channel shall be as follows: 15 mW over the 66.5 to 75 GHz range (adjustable in less than 0.25 dB steps down to 3.75 mW), 30 mW over 75 to 77.5 GHz range (adjustable in less than 0.25 dB steps down to 7.5 mW).

ICD: FEND-40.02.04.00-40.10.04.00-B-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 200 μW to 20 μW in 0.5 dB steps. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency doubler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel from 20 μW down to 0 μW.

Band 5:

WCA: The Band 5 LO shall provide two LO power outputs (one for each mixer polarization) with a power level ≥ 0.4 mW.

ICD: FEND-40.02.05.00-40.10.05.00-C-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 250 μW to 125 μW in steps not larger than 0.3 dB. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency doubler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel from 125 μW down to 0 μW.

Band 6:

WCA: The output power of either channel shall be adjustable from 5 mW to 20 mW in less than 0.5 dB steps.

ICD: FEND-40.02.06.00-40.10.06.00: 37.5 uW to 150 uW adjustable in 0.5 dB steps, provided that the waveguide loss between the WCA LO waveguide interface and the cryogenic tripler input waveguide is less than 2.0 dB (TBC).

Band 7:

WCA: the output power of either channel shall be adjustable from 1 mW to 3 mW in less than 1 dB steps, and from 3 mW to 8 mW in less than 0.5 dB steps.

ICD: FEND-40.02.07.00-40.10.07.00-B03-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 150 μW to 37.5 μW in 0.5dB steps, from 37.5 μW to 20 μW in 0.8 dB steps, and from 20 μW to 10 μW in 1.0 dB steps. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency tripler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel from 10 μW down to 0 μW.

Band 8:

WCA: the output power of either channel shall be adjustable from 20 mW to 80 mW in less than 0.3 dB steps. In addition, from 65.5-70.0 GHz, the output power shall be adjustable up to 90 mW.

ICD: FEND-40.02.08.00-40.10.08.00-A-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 20 μW to 80μW (goal shall be 100 μW) in 0.5 dB steps. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency quintupler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel from 20 μW down to 0 μW.

Band 9:

WCA: the output power of either channel shall be adjustable from 50 mW to 100 mW in less than 0.3 dB steps.

ICD: FEND-40.02.09.00-40.10.09.00-A08-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 10 μW to 40 μW in 0.5dB steps. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency nonupler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel from 10 μW down to 0 μW.

Band 10:

WCA: the output power of either channel shall be adjustable from 20 mW to 60 mW in less than 0.5 dB steps for the frequency range of 88.3 GHz to <98 GHz, and from 20mW to 80 mW in less than 0.5 dB steps from 98 GHz to 104.7 GHz.

ICD: FEND-40.02.10.00-40.10.10.00-A-ICD: Output of each channel shall be adjustable from 15 μW to 3.75μW in 0.5 dB steps. This requires that the loss in the waveguide between the WCA and the coolable frequency nonupler input flange is as per the specifications that follow in this table. The cartridge manufacturer is responsible for supplying and installing this waveguide. It shall be possible to adjust the output of each channel independently from 3.75 μW down to 0 μW. (If the output power level is larger than 15 μW, then the step size will be 0.5 dB or finer.)
