Software WBS for KFPA

Rough Hardware Timeline and Coordination Details

(Taken from Steve's Official KFPA Gantt Chart and meeting in Amy's office [Feb 27, 2009] - Is this Gantt chart on the wiki somewhere?)

  • Parts are currently (as of Feb 27, 2009) on order for M&C cards. Building of cards should happen in April 2009 with the cards available for testing in May 2009.
  • Dewar together in June 2009 and available late August 2009
  • Serious testing in the lab starts in October 2009 and goes through November 2009
    • Really need a Manager at this point
    • The primary points of contact for the M&C hardware are Galen Watts and Bob Simon. Roger Norrod providing some input as well. There is a document describing detailed requirements for M&C.
    • Messaging/alarms will be similar to the existing K-band receiver. Wording of the messages needs to be coordinated with the hardware engineers and operations.
    • The hardware engineers will require a way to test/troubleshoot the KFPA using a laptop. The Manager could be used for this as was done for Mustang.
    • Will finally have access to the entire receiver as a system at this point. However, individual components will be available piece-meal before then.
  • Expect to do commissioning on the GBT January 1, 2010
    • Will need fully system integration with Astrid by this point.
    • The Measurements Manager will have to accept tables of cal values from the KFPA. There will be 14 rows of cal values (2 rows/pixel).
    • A balancing capability will have to be added to the current Balancing API, which will set attenuators in the downconverter. This is a periodic balancing activity that can be done between scans.
