DHCP

Overview

Server-1 provides DHCP service on the network admin network. The setting for the daemon are in /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf.

The IP addresses on all of networks are effectively static: addresses are either truly static or are reserved and therefore effectively static. The MAC addressses of all of the SWCs are contained in the dhcpd.conf file along with the associated IP address. This address and the addresses contained in the DNS servers zone files (located /var/named) need to agree for the cluster to function properly.

In addition to providing IP addresses, the DHCP service provides boot service to the SWCS. The dhcpd.conf file provides SWCs with the name of a boot image that they can acquire via TFTP (see also.
