We are transitioning from a singular focus pushing towards OSRO to a need to advance in several different areas in parallel; will try to retain the clarity of priorities and timelines. Please feedback! Noted the active vs. planning groups to distinguish those that can usefully acquire test data toward their areas. Broader plan is coming; working to include measures where ever possible.
[Rupen; OSRO Priority 0]: OPT-> Archive path complete (currently just automated setup of the correlator).
[Jackson/Durand]: Antenna 22 checkout and pointing (to avoid delay in retrofit process).
Other tests will occur as possible around these; if there is a long lead time for these fixes, will move ahead despite having to reproduce once the complete automated path is available.
Next:
[Rupen/van Moorsel; OSRO Priority 0]: Per band checkout of:
OSRO-1, 256 MHz ()
Fringes and flat bandpasses
verify phase sign (calibrator and offset target)
Verify frequency labeling
L, S bands: Use interference
C band: Use old OMJ suckouts
X band: Use receiver rolloff
Wait: K, Ka, Q bands: Use masers
Verify polarization phase convention, cross hand delays: Use 3C28
After next:
OSRO 2 mode
Verify fringes and flat bandpasses in one band.
Verify phase sign.
Verify frequency labeling in L band.
Changing Bandwidths
OSRO 1 in steps of factor of 2 from 256 MHz -> 1 MHz
OSRO 2 in steps of factor of 2 from 256 MHz -> 250 kHz
Continuum: AU129 L C bands 4pp 64 x 2000 kHz = 128 MHz 54 hours (Various sources in the Galactic Plane, needs IF B/D.)
Continuum: AH1004 C band 4pp 64 x 2000 kHz = 128 MHz 4 x 3.5 hours; requires polarimetry
Continuum: AR704 L band 4pp 64 x 2000 kHz = 128 MHz 2 x 10.5 hours; requires polarimetry
Continuum: AK723 L band CH 4pp 64 x 2000 kHz = 128 MHz 2 hours (Search for redshifted CH, wide bandwidth but polarimetry not needed. Needs IF B/D.) - Actually 2 MHz bandwidth (cover sheet was wrong).
Currently the priorities are pushing on C, X band continuum. OSRO 2 modes (spectral line) are also available as long as they are single resource (one instrument setup of receiver/correlator). The next priority will be to push upward in frequency; currently this is restricted by the incomplete checkout of the reference pointing.
List of known problems (can be used by OSRO commissioning team (van Moorsel)
High Priority [Rupen/Butler]: MCAF frequency labeling
Currently 2 versions of MCAF: 1) production which sends to the archive; 2) MRs which sends to a local area. Currently the production version has several known issues (frequency labeling, lack of WX table); Need clarity on the timeline for MCAF upgrades; what happens to historical archive data. Rupen indicated that the production MCAF had been updated; discussion on handling of versions (which are recorded along with release notes). Currently using a flag to mark data as good/bad for use. Following OSRO checkout by EVLA staff, the flag will be updated (communicate with Benson).
High Priority [Pokorny]: Auto-controlled CBE writes scrambled visibilities.
High Priority [Rupen]: X band subbands are inverted (IF 1 is labelled as IF4, IF2 as 3, IF3 as 2, IF 4 as 1).
Med Priority [TBD]: Delays in acquisition of source for some antennas. One antenna off source; EA23 is slow; not an issue.
Med Priority [Myers]: C band 128 MHz spectrum bends down at the edges.
Med Priority [Shores]: EA19-D station board won't boot.
Med Priority [Shores]: EA05-A problems. DTS data transmission system/deformatter problem.
Med Priority [Perley]: X band shows extra noise in set-and-remember test
Med Priority [TBD]: Subband 0 DC offset
Med Priority [TBD]: Phase offsets within scans (phase jump at scan boundaries). EA03 R&L phase offset on some scans - probably L302 LO problem, needs tracking down. MR: Also seen on EA07, EA25 (both RR and LL)
Med Priority [TBD]: Added. Phase change when frequency changes (needs to be tested).
Med Priority [TBD]: Anti-aliasing does not behave as advertised.
