Agenda

Simulator Testing

  • Ryan and Paul have had good success with Simulator testing (see plots at the bottom of this page). There appears to be a ~ 474 sec periodicity in the residuals for the "start/stop" mode, for both coherent and incoherent modes. This was still present with a randomized period. Note added after meeting This was not seen in similar DIBAS tests, so something must be different.
  • Overall tests went well, and it will be easy to automate the process. Ryan and Paul estimate ~ 24 hours elapsed time to run the tests, and less than an hour to prepare for them and process the results (assuming no problems are encountered).
  • For the wider bandwidth modes, non-lustre disk write speed will become a problem. These final modes can probably be tested with the VEGAS hardware.

Other items

  • Paul noted it would be good to have a broad-band noise source. This is under development as a WVU senior design project, under Randy's guidance.
  • We agreed that we want the switching signal driver firmware included in the BOFs, but the switching signal state does not need to be encoded in the output packets.
  • Justin has started work on the Manager MR.
  • Arindam is starting to look at the high channel number modes.
  • MMCM and other ADC calibration will be required. Since this is BOF and sampling frequency specific, each pulsar mode (or family of modes) will need to be calibrated.

Date / Time of Next Meeting

  • Next meeting Monday 9th March at 2pm ET
