VEGAS Testing afternoon of 27 Febuary 2014

Goals:

• Cap off VEGAS system at different places to try and see what the source of the ripple in modes 1, 2, and 3 is

Procedure:

• Take a fiducial track with Q band and mode 1, 2, and 3 (5 minutes each??, 10 minutes each??, just one mode?)
  • just do modes 1 and 3?? Does mode 2 do anything different??
• Connect noise source to input of ADC
• Take 10 min track
• Connect noise source to input of vegas analog system (i.e., without the long cable coming from the converter module)
• Take 10 min track
• Connect source at input of converter module
• Take 10 min track.

• VEGAS was throwing a lot of errors, so we turned the manager off then on again. fixed it.

• Jason Ray is going to put the noise source on banks A-D just in front of the ADC part of VEGAS
• Something does look right in scans 16, ifnum-0 data coming in looks like crap. Looks like it was due to a bad roach. Going to redo scan 16 at end.

• Scan 20 -- RippleQbandmode1 -- noise source in front of ADC.
• Scan 21 -- RippleQbandmode2 -- noise source in front of ADC.
• Scan 22 -- RippleQbandmode3 -- noise source in front of ADC.
• Jason disconnected the noise source in front of the ADC.
• Scan 23 -- RippleQbandmode1 -- full system -- is this a re-do of Scan 16, which was corrupted.
• Then time was up so we stopped.
