Travel Information

  • Charlottesville has a regional airport (CHO) that is served by United, Continental and Delta.
  • Richmond (RIC) is a full-service, international airport that is very convenient to Charlottesville - an easy, 100-minute, interstate drive (~80 miles away).
  • Washington, DC (IAD) is approximately 110 miles from Charlottesville (2 to 2 1/2 hours' drive).

Accommodations & Parking

  • Reservations have been made for participants (listed above) at the University of Virginia's historic Colonnade Club. Please note that complimentary continental breakfast is available between 7:30 and 9:30am, and that coffee is available in the lobby.
  • Reservations are made as follows:
    • Check-in - Aug 6th
    • Check-out - Aug 10th
  • The Colonnade Club will send you an email with information about checking in, parking and payment. Please let Lyndele know if you will be arriving after 5pm so that we can arrange to get your keys to you.
  • Wednesday and Thursday meetings will be held in the Colonnade Hotel's Upper Library Room.
  • Parking - Please note that, due to renovation construction, there will likely be no available parking at the Colonnade Club. Parking is available at the Central Grounds Parking garage, a short walk to the Colonnade Hotel (see below for directions).

A note from the Colonnade Club:

All guests, if arriving during business hours, may come down our alley to pick up keys and unload items; they must then relocate the vehicle to the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street near the bookstore. The parking permit that you purchase through the club will give you access to this garage for no additional fees.

If you are arriving after hours, please go directly to the University Visitor Center/Police Station (434.924.7166) to pick up your keys, and then you may continue to the Club.

Please note that upon arrival the alley may be temporarily blocked by construction vehicles. In the event of an alley blockage, please pull down the alley to unload, with your flashers on, and then relocate the vehicle to the Central Grounds garage.
