Usage for printBaselineAngularScale

Return to directory of Todd's CASA extensions

Converts a baseline length into angular scale on the sky either at the specified frequency(s), or at the four major ALMA bands (default), using 1.0*wavelength/baseline = angle. See also findNull which uses the Besinc function. See also angularScaleBaseline which does the inverse calculation, and printBaselineUVDistance.

Usage

au.printBaselineAngularScale(length, frequency=[])
  • length is in meters
  • frequency is in GHz and can be a single integer/float or a list thereof

Example

CASA <2>: au.printBaselineAngularScale(50)
50 m corresponds to 16.6778 kilolambda and 12.3676 arcsec at 100 GHz
50 m corresponds to 38.3589 kilolambda and 5.37723 arcsec at 230 GHz
50 m corresponds to 57.5384 kilolambda and 3.58482 arcsec at 345 GHz
50 m corresponds to 115.077 kilolambda and 1.79241 arcsec at 690 GHz
