Computes the sensitivity at the center of a hexagonal mosaic relative to a single pointing. Based on equations at my wikipage. See also plotmosaic and mosaicOverlapFactor.


au.mosaicSensitivity(spacing=0.5774, beam=1.13, points=7)
  • spacing and beam should be given in units of lambda/D
  • points: number of hexagonal pointings: 7, 19, or 37


CASA <4>: au.mosaicSensitivity()
Spacing = 0.5774 lambda/D with FWHM beam = 1.1300 lambda/D:
        = 0.5110 FWHM
7-pt Sensitivity = 1.552591 times better than single pointing
