fieldsfornames

Return to directory of Todd's CASA extensions

Returns a list of fields IDs that encompass a list of field names. Uses msmd.fieldsforname in a 'for' loop.

Usage: 

au.fieldsfornames(mymsmd, names)
Inputs:
  • mymsmd: an existing msmd tool instance
  • names: ['A','B','C'] or 'A,B,C'

Example: 

CASA <8>: msmd.open('uid___A002_Xa24618_X26b0.ms')  
CASA <9>: au.fieldsfornames(msmd,['B335_1','B335_2'])
  Out[9]: [2, 3]
