estimateSynthesizedBeamForConfig

Return to directory of Todd's CASA extensions

Reads an antenna configuration file (by default from the directory: os.getenv('CASAPATH').split()[0]+'/data/alma/simmos and computes the expected synthesized beam e in arcseconds based on the ALMA-accepted formula of 0.574*lambda/L80percentile (i.e. Eq 7.4 of Cycle 4 Technical handbook). See also estimateMRSForConfig.

Usage:

au.estimateSynthesizedBeamForConfig(config, frequency)

Example:

CASA <5>: au.estimateSynthesizedBeamForConfig('alma.cycle4.5', 275)
  Out[5]: 0.2046079455657254
