Resolved images of the protoplanetary disk around HD 100546 with ALMA Jaime E. Pineda et al. Although this object showed indications of ongoing or recent planet formation neither gas nor mm continuum emission had been seen. ALMA images a gas disk to 350AU, and dust to 60 AU. The truncated dust disk may relate to a protoplanet candidate identified by NACO/VLT observations. Future high resolution ALMA data could reveal the presence of a planet through the detection of circumplanetary disk material. 2011.0.00863.S
ALMA Observation of 158 micron CII Line and Dust Continuum of a z=7 Normally Star-forming Galaxy in the Epoch of Reionization Kazuaki Ota et al (including F. Walter and J. Hodge). ALMA observations of the [CII] line and far-infrared (FIR) continuum of a normally star-forming galaxy in the reionization epoch, the z=6.96 Ly-alpha emitter (LAE) IOK-1 are presented--the galaxy was not detected in both [CII] and continuum. ALMA observations of the kinematics and chemistry of disc formation Johan E. Lindberg, et al. present ALMA observations of dust from four disks and C17O rotation measurements toward IRS7B. Methanol is detected weakly in the disk, more strongly in the outflow. Authors propose that the envelope region housing complex organics is quenched by the growing disk. ADS/JAO.ALMA#2011.0.00628.S.
An ALMA Early Science survey of molecular absorption lines toward PKS1830-211 -- Analysis of the absorption profiles S. Muller, others including J. Ott. 42 different species plus 14 different rare isotopologues have been detected toward the SW image, and 14 species toward the NE line-of-sight. The abundances of CH, H2O, HCO+, HCN, and NH3 relative to H2 are found to be comparable to those in the Galactic diffuse medium. The ground-state line of ortho-water has the deepest absorption of all molecules and therefor may have the best potential for detecting diffuse molecular gas in absorption at high redshift. ALMA Imaging of Gas and Dust in a Galaxy Protocluster at Redshift 5.3 Dominik A. Riechers and authors, 5 NA and 1 ALMA. ALMA imaging of strong [CII], OH and rest-frame 157.7 um continuum emission toward the center of the galaxy protocluster associated with the z=5.3 submillimeter galaxy (SMG) suggests that AzTEC -3 forms stars at Sigma_SFR approaching the Eddington limit for radiation pressure supported disks. The SED is consistent with expectations for young starbursts without significant older stellar populations. This suggests that these galaxies are significantly metal-enriched, but not heavily dust-obscured, "normal" star-forming galaxies at z>5, showing that ALMA can detect the interstellar medium in "typical" galaxies in the very early universe. ALMA Observations of Nearby Luminous Infrared Galaxies with Various AGN Energetic Contributions Using Dense Gas Tracers Imanishi and Nakanishi present the results of their ALMA Cycle 0 observations, using HCN/HCO+/HNC J=4-3 lines, of six nearby luminous infrared galaxies with various energetic contributions from active galactic nuclei (AGNs) estimated from previous infrared spectroscopy. HCN to HCO+ J=4-3 flux ratios tend to be higher in AGN-important galaxies than in starburst-dominated regions. Project 00020
ALMA backed NIR high resolution integral field spectroscopy of the NUGA galaxy NGC 1433 Semir Smajic et al. report that within the central arcsecond, the molecular hydrogen and the 12CO(3-2) emissions - observed in the NIR and in the sub-millimeter with SINFONI and ALMA, respectively - are indicative for a nuclear outflow originating from the galaxy's SMBH. X-Ray Emission from Star-Forming Galaxies - Signatures of Cosmic Rays and Magnetic Fields Jennifer Schober, Dominik R. G. Schleicher, Ralf S. Klessen. Using the ALMA LABOCA E-CDF-S Submm Survey (ALESS) (Hodge et al. 2013; Karim et al. 2013), the authors suggest that the mean magnetic energy of young galaxies is similar to the one in local galaxies. This points toward an early generation of galactic magnetic fields, which is in agreement with current dynamo evolution models. Note that the ALMA program is not cited specifically. An ALMA Continuum Survey of Circumstellar Disks in the Upper Scorpius OB Association John M. Carpenter, Luca Ricci, Andrea Isella ALMA detects 13 of 20 K and M-type stars in the Upper Scorpius OB association that are surrounded by protoplanetary disks. The dust masses tend to be marginally higher around the more massive stars. Comparison to Taurus clouds is made but there is little difference. 2011.0.00526.S

Dust Trapping by Vortices in Transitional Disks: Evidence for Non-ideal MHD Effects in Protoplanetary Disks Zhaohuan Zhu, James M. Stone If the disk asymmetry in recent ALMA observations is indeed due to dust trapping in a vortex at the planet-induced gap edge, we conclude that this asymmetry may be the evidence that the outer protoplanetary disks are dominated by ambipolar diffusion, as suggested by disk ionization calculations, and the equivalent α in the outer disk is less than 10−3.
Imaging the Supermassive Black Hole Shadow and Jet Base of M87 with the Event Horizon Telescope Ru-Sen Lu et al. Realistic VLBI simulations of M87 model images are described to examine detectability of the black shadow with the EHT, focusing on a sequence of model images with a changing jet mass load radius. When the jet is launched close to the black hole, the shadow is clearly visible both at 230 and 345 GHz.
