The ANASAC agenda has been set, and includes a time slot to discuss the new gender bias study. Presentations will be made available in early May to the ANASAC members. At the f2f meetings, these will be briefly summarized followed by discussions, which are expected to take up the majority of the f2f meeting time.

The ALMA Cycle 4 deadline was on 21 April and several ANASAC members have experiences to share (especially regarding the quality of the OT?). This will be discussed at the f2f meeting.

Carol Lonsdale will retire from the NAASC next month, and there is a celebration at May 12th. The question was raised who will take over the gender bias study, since this clearly needs to be repeated for future cycles.

There was a Call for ALMA Development Studies on March 1. The deadline is 2 May. We received 17 Notices of Intent to submit studies. Al needs nominations for referees from ANASAC. There are a number of development activities happening in the coming month starting with a workshop in Gothenburg, May 23.

Pierre charged to put together a task force to develop a development project vision for the observatory. There was a brief discussion regarding what such a task force should focus on, especially the balance between grander visions and details on how to execute them.

The NAASC workshop ‘Molecular Gas in Galactic Environments was successfully held, with just over one hundred participants. The talk upload system seemed to have been sub-optimal and a different system should be considered for future meetings.

Regarding the 2016 ALMA Science Meeting, all but one speaker confirmed

For Band 1, the following statement was sent to the board from ASAC ‘At the telecon held on April 14th, 2016, ASAC discussed the latest Band 1 science case. Although the science case should undergo minor modifications (additional information on science with VLBI, rewriting of bullet point about very high-z to remove reference to Milky Way) ASAC unanimously holds the view that these science cases for Band 1 are promising and does not see any scientific reasons for not proceeding with its production if the technical, logistical, and costing aspects of the project are resolved.’ east Asia goal to have it on the array by 2019

Band 5 is being commissioned on the array. Available in C5?

Band 2. Joint plan still needs to be developed.

There is a new ASAC ToR and structure that should be more representative of expertise rather than region. Chair of ASAC will serve for 2 years. There is also a change of terms for ASAC members.

Regarding the Gender bias study. The question was raised what additional information is needed. The most obvious is career stage, since that could explain some of the differences between the male and female distributions. Phil requested that is is not circulated to other ASAC members until the other executives have had time to look it over. Unconscious bias information could presented at the ARP, as part of the ‘educational’ presentation preceding panel discussions.
