Agenda

Review NAASC/NRAO response to Sep 2008 ANASAC Report Review - anasac_response_jan09.pdf

Review and Discuss new ANASAC Charges - anasac_charges_jan09.pdf

  • ALMA Proposal Review Process - Update and Further Discussion
  • ALMA development report discussion / White Paper
    • Note one item in particular--the antenna contracts signed by AUI and ESO have a clause allowing the purchase of additional antennas at the 2005 cost. This clause expires in summer 2009. Please review the The Number of Antennas in ALMA summary case attached to this agenda and comment.
    • A Notice of Intent was filed with the Astronomy and Astrophysics Decadal Survey committee for ALMA Development. A need for ALMA development funding was highlighted in the AUI document on FUTURE PROSPECTS FOR US RADIO, MILLIMETER, AND SUBMILLIMETER ASTRONOMY 'McCray Report'. White Papers on diverse science topics are being prepared; please let us know if you would like to participate.

Supplemental Material

ANASAC Charges

  • Standing Charge. The ANASAC has a standing charge to review the latest ASAC charges, and provide input to the ASAC members. We ask that the ANASAC pay particular to attention to the charge in which the JAO is asking the ASAC to take a prominent role in defining the scientific priorities for the ALMA development plan. Please discuss and recommend how the ANASAC can facilitate a mechanism to solicit the inputs and interests of the North American community and make sure the ASAC deliberations encompass the needs of the NA community.
