* Leaders: Giles Novak, Stephen White, Crystal Brogan

* Agenda: Discuss remaining Cycle 8 open questions
  • Update: Stage 2 voting for DPR will be done on best efforts basis for Cycle 8, prospects look promising
  1. How to prioritize proposals reviewed by DPR and panels
  2. How to implement a “floor” to the time allocation for larger proposals
  3. Feedback from EASAC
    • Concerned that a hard cutoff to the time limit for DPR vs panels would have unintended consequences. They suggest to set the limit after the proposal deadline to keep the number of proposals to the panels fixed.
    • Fair that Categories 3-5 are merged in a single panel? The issue is the number of medium/large proposals is relatively small in Categories 3-5 (~ 10-15 in Category 3 and 4, and 0-3 in Category 5) -- can be mitigated by adding additional topical experts to this panel driven by proposal pressure
    • Lack of regional balance among DPR reviewers -- will be based on PI distribution of submitted proposals (in panels based on Regional share)
