  2. Fall Face to Face meeting 20-21 Sept, Charlottesville.
  3. Effective Monday August 13, 2012, the NAASC is being reorganized to streamline management and improve efficiency.

    1. Construction Status
      • Science Section of July Report, from R. Hills.
      • 39 antennas at the AOS
      • AOS Roads: All 67km completed
      • Band 6 cartridge production finishing up.
      • Correlator to be shut down 3 September for upgrade to four-quadrant operation (64 inputs)
    2. Operations
      • Science Operations Section of July report, from DSO
      • Early Science Progress
        • List of highest ranked projects
        • As of Aug12, 218 (57%) of 383 SBs nominally completed (still need to pass QA2); 132 (34%) passed QA2 & delivered to PIs. 14 (34%) of 38 NA projects have some data delivered. 5 (13%) NA projects finished.
        • ARC-based data reduction started in early April. NA has processed 30 datasets; 12 being processed. Will be renewed focus going forward.
        • Project Tracker was deployed at end of June. Visible to PI's (and coIs?) of ALMA projects (including cycle 1) after logging in. Lists status of all SBs submitted to the archive. Documentation available at http://almasw.hq.eso.org/almasw/pub/OBOPS/ProjectTracker/ProjectTrackerManual.pdf (linked at top of first page before staring the application). MANUAL IS NOT SCIENCE USER VIEW. AWAITING INPUT FROM PROJECT AS TO WHAT SCIENCE USERS SHOULD SEE, AND WHICH SCIENCE USERS. WILL DEMO AT F2F.

      • Cycle 1 Recap
        • Proposal deadline was July 12 1300UT.
        • Total number received ~1133 after duplications. See SP news item. Proposals have been distributed to referees.
        • Action Item: Feedback How did the proposal process go for you discussion at f2f meeting.
        • Proposal Review Oct 1-5; 77 Science Assessors in 11 panels. Results to PIs November; observations expected to start after completion of Cycle 0 (2012 Dec 31); 800 12-m Array hours to be scheduled; up to 800hrs for ACA.
      • Monthly Reports for previous months.

        • S. Corder is en route to Chile to become CSV Project Scientist.
        • Sabbatical visitors Looney and Martini have arrived at NAASC.
        • ALMA postdoc applictions (at JAO) accepted until 31 August.
